Can AI Replace Web Design?

UPDATE: 6/6/2025

AI will replace web design and on the back end already is. I used AI to rewrite some code for me because I couldn’t remember how to adjust iFrames and make them dynamic. I could have spent an hour looking up the code and testing it but I asked ChatGPT to do it. It made some mistakes but in the second attempt the code was correct. I no longer need to keep a code library anymore.

Now that ElevenLabs allows for avatars and can clone your voice, you can create YouTube videos of yourself speaking using text generated in your style by AI on any topic.

I have since left ChatGPT for GROK AI because I find it much smarter.

AI can build websites, and it’s become a game-changer for web development. AI website builders like Wix ADI, Squarespace Blueprint, Hostinger AI, and ZipWP use machine learning and natural language processing to create fully functional websites in minutes, often with just a few prompts or questions about your brand and goals. These tools generate layouts, content, images, and even optimize for SEO and mobile responsiveness without requiring coding skills. For example, Wix ADI can create a tailored site based on a short chat, while ZipWP builds WordPress sites in under 60 seconds with customizable templates

I have added my favorite video so far on web design where you are being shown what prompts to use in MidJourney for good results as well as how important it is to use version 5 of MidJourney due to the enhanced capabilities. At the moment MidJourney defaults to version 4 so you should use the prompt --v 5 (dash, dash, letter v, space, number 5) in order to use it.

The workflow is to generate ideas for the website designs and possibly after generate images that can be used for placement in a comp. Then, use the elements in Figma to actually build a working prototype.

In my opinion AI is more like a helper tool that expands our creativity and produces usable comps that are useful in the process of creating mock-ups for approval.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
